Days 4, 5, and 6

We've had a few sluggish days. AJ's been feeling a bit rough, nauseous, and sleeping a lot. The methotrexate from day 3 seemed to just wipe him out. Unfortunately he gets another dose this afternoon - fingers crossed it will go a little better. All that being said, the doctors still feel like AJ is doing very well, and are happy with his progress. His side effects thus far have been fairly minimal and are all completely expected. His current cell counts are so low they are immeasurable. The battle within him will begin in the coming days as the donor marrow begins to take over. Again, fingers crossed and prayers being said that it will continue to go smoothly.

During his awake times, he and Dad are playing SimCity, and he loves it - despite the fact his first city was engulfed in flames - oops!, and his second city was destroyed by a nuclear accident - yikes! He is also enjoying all the things he has received and continues to receive. Thank you to the Ritchies and the McGarrys for the big bunch of balloons - it was a nice surprise.

I think AJ's biggest surprise came this morning. The nurse knocked on the door to tell us there were visitors with a package. Greg walked out to meet them (since AJ continues on isolation). Greg returned with a cute package and a few minutes later there was a surprise out our window. It was Anna and her family. AJ was able to walk down to the sunroom at the end of the hall so they could see each other better. It was very sweet. They talked on the phone as they waved out the window. Thank you to Mike and Jackie for making that happen - he was so happy!!!

Please continue to pray for his recovery!

That is the coolest thing! I love the picture of you on the phone and you can see Anna on the phone outside. What a sweet girl! I know that cheered you up :). David got My Sims Kingdom for Christmas and loves it. You guys have such similar interests. I hope you are getting some energy back soon - I will say a special prayer for that, okay? I can't wait to see what your next hat is going to be! You have sweet dreams honey...
Love you,
Lindsay

Hi AJ,
I love reading your postings and seeing all the pictures your Mom is taking of you. I continue to pray for healing in your body. Sounds as if things are going well even though you are feeling pretty yucky sometimes. I hope that will soon end for you.
You are such a brave boy. Your smile is always a blessing to see. Tell your Mom and Dad hello. I think about you everyday.
Tomorrow Ms. Nancy and I will start to get the school ready for all the children to return. I always look forward to seeing everyone again. I hope Jack will have a good year with Ms. Sue and Ms. Judy. Ms. Sue was asking about you on Friday night.
I pray tomorrow will be a good day for you. Love, Ms. Pam

AJ,

We are so glad we got to see you! It was the highlight of our week. The hospital is so amazing. Thanks for coming to the window for us. I love that we got to visit that way.

Keep us posted on the racing. Since we are without a young boy in this house we weren't sure about those cars.
Love, The Fennells

Hey guys. how are you all doing? being informed of A.J.'s day to day life is great. thank you so much for all the info and for sharing. although A.J. is not feeling well, he sure looks great. i say he looks better than most of the fireman i work with at my station. hum, maybe we can arrange a visit to our station when he gets better. maybe get him into a real life fire situation. sounds like fun, but first he must feel better and get stronger. keep being our "hero" little guy.
cindy and greg keep hanging in there, i pray that god gives you strength and the much needed energy. your bud,
Lt. Jorge Cardoso

Hi, A.J. We enjoy reading the blog, and love the hats. We were out to PA and Ohio and prayed for you there and back! (We will be sending some stuff from the trip.) We love your shaved head and Dad's, too. You two look so handsome. Feel better soon. What will you be watching after you finish the Pirate movies? Maybe something with less (mushy) kissing stuff... Love you and the whole Monkey Bunch!
