Day -3: Good Morning

Yesterday ended up being a yucky day. Although AJ felt better for about an hour or so mid morning, it was short lived. He had hives, chills, fever and nausea all day. He was kept on benadryl and some other meds that kept him quite woozy. The ATG treatment ran all day. Once he was off the treatment the side effects started to go away. All of this is to be expected. It was however, very taxing. AJ had the second round of Cytoxin last night and again had no immediate adverse side effects to it. In fact around 6:00pm last night AJ woke up, smiled and said: "Good Morning." He saw that it was 6:00 on the wall clock and thought it was 6:00am. His brothers (and Grandma and Pop-Pop) sent him a card and some balloons. The balloons were tied to three little stuffed monkeys. That really perked his spirits as did all the encouraging words people have left in their comments. We read each one of them to him last night. After which he stated: "I have the greatest friends in the world" and he does.

Hi AJ, I'm a good friend of your Aunt Vanessa. As a matter of fact, we first became friends when we were your age. She's told me what an amazing little man you are. You and your parents are doing a great job with this blog, I look forward to reading it everyday. My entire family is praying for you. My sons, Billy (11) and Timmy (10) want a yellow mohawk too but I told them "No way, yellow mohawks are only for REALLY brave kids!"

Good Morning! I hope today isn't as yucky as yesterday. I'm back in NY now so I'm going to send you the crazy hats I picked out this weekend. NY has really crazy hats! While I was shopping in the crazy hat store I was wondering "where do people really wear these hats"? Do you have any idea? Love, Aunt Vanessa

AJ,

We think it is so funny that your brothers sent you the 3 little monkeys. One from each of them to remind you of them. Clever boys. Just like their big brother!

Thinking about you!
Love,

A.J.!!! Wow, you are so brave and tough! You hang in there, OK? I've been thinking about you lots and David and I are praying for you and pulling for you all the way. I went for a ride on my horse today up in the hills and I thought about how fun it will be if you and your family come here to visit (and maybe even stay here at our house) after you are all healed. I saw some bear scat (that's poop!). When you get all better, it will be fun for you guys to go camping here--we can tell you about lots of beautiful and fun places to go. Well, your West Coast fans are pulling for you, A.J.!! xxoo

Love,
Mary Jo & David

Hey AJ -
We played Build A Bear this morning and thought of you! I hear you have a Risk computer game - awesome! That is my favorite board game in the whole world. Another awesome computer game is "Age of Empires". You can build towns and have battles. I am reading James and the Giant Peach right now. My dad says it is so good. Have you read it? Maybe I can send it to you. I hope you have another great day tomorrow.
Love,
David and Kendal

Hey AJ,

I hope you are having a better day today! Thank you for sharing your days with all of us. You certainly have alot of friends all over the country!

Last night the teachers from Trinity Preschool were here for our "back to school" gathering and we said a special prayer for you. Mr. Mike prayed for you in sunday school on sunday and Paul's Aunt Charlene in Durham, North Carolina is praying for you!! God is very busy listening to all those prayers for AJ and his family.

I love the mohawk! You look pretty cute with it. I hope you can keep it for a long time.

Our love and prayers, Mr. Mike and Mr. Pam

I will look for a crazy hat for you while I am there. You hang in there with your treatments. You are doing a great job. You are a top dog, dude!

P.S. Did you know that my formal name is Caroline, just like your nurse's?
